UPDATE - NS: Pandemic pushes back public engagement on province’s ambitious sustainable development plan

Nova Scotia Environment’s public engagement process for developing sustainable development goals and climate plan has been pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It had originally been scheduled to run from March 12, 2020 to May 15, 2020.

The province has now planned for widespread public engagement starting in early 2021.

The planned stakeholder engagement was part of its new Sustainable Development Goals Act that it passed in October 2019. The Act creates a framework to set additional goals designed to ‘advance Nova Scotia’s economic, social, and environmental wellbeing’, ambitious new targets to fight climate change, and a commitment to publishing the Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth for release in 2020. It also commits to an opportunity for public input in the development of the new goals under the Act.

The CPA will keep you informed of the launch date for the public engagement. For more information, contact Jean-François Duguay, Government Relations Director, Atlantic Canada by email at jeanfrancoisduguay@propane.ca.
