UPDATE - ON: Advancing industry proposals for pandemic economic recovery

In late June and early July 2020, the CPA followed up with the Minister of Government and Consumer Services, the Honourable Lisa Thompson, on the next steps to advance the proposals offered by sectoral representatives to hasten provincial pandemic economic recovery at her June 3 roundtable discussion session.

In addition to sending the Minister a follow-up thank-you letter on June 11 from former board chair Dan Kelly, Ontario Government Relations Director Marcelline Riddell engaged with Minister Thompson’s policy and stakeholder relations advisors, Andrew Esser and Thomas Staples, respectively, on June 25 to arrange further meetings and determine priorities to advance the proposals. On July 2 Riddell began liaising with ministry policy analyst Richard Hustwick who is charged with researching these proposals and moving them forward for further consideration.

Riddell has also reached out to staff in the Ministries of Finance, Transportation, Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade and Labour Training and Skills Development to begin dialogue on the initiatives within their purview.

Riddell will continue to work with these contacts, set up meetings and communicate updates with roundtable participants and CPA members.
