ON: CPA holds another successful Lobby Day at Queen’s Park

The CPA and its members hosted a successful Lobby Day at Queen’s Park in Toronto on February 20, 2019. Over 25 members and CPA staff participated in 20 meetings with a number of key government ministers, staff and MPPs from all political parties and regions of the province.

Members were divided into teams of five to meet with as many officials as possible that day and advocate for propane’s role and potential as a vital energy choice for Ontarians.

Members were well-received by decision makers and the meetings allowed specific policy asks, such as:
The meetings also focused on ways Ontario’s propane industry could help the Ford government meet some of its economic and environmental goals while reducing red tape and regulatory burdens on propane businesses.

Between meetings, members attended Question Period, had the industry and their names read into the official record, and witnessed some of the interesting procedures of legislative politics.

Propane’s benefits were also highlighted to a diverse group of politicians and staff at a very well-attended luncheon reception.
Thanks to all the members who took time from their businesses to contribute to the day’s success. Your input and respective expertise added significant depth to the conversations.

Also, many thanks to event sponsors: Budget Propane, Diversco Supply, Dowler-Karn, National Energy Equipment Inc., P38 Energy, Parkland Fuel Corporation and Plains Midstream Canada.

Lobby Day social media presence was strong for Lobby Day – photos and comments can be found on Twitter (@canadapropane) and Facebook (Canadian Propane Association).

The CPA is now following up with particular ministers on the issues raised at Lobby Day, with hopes of near-term advancement. Please take the opportunity to reinforce these messages with your local representatives to continue the momentum of Lobby Day 2019.
