Get Involved! Join the CPA at the Forward Summit in Calgary February 26-28

As announced in the December newsletter, the CPA is participating in the inaugural Forward Summit, a three-day gathering of Indigenous communities and industry leaders at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre on February 26-28. The Summit brings together Indigenous leaders and Canada’s major industries to discuss important topics surrounding workforce, finance, economic growth and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The conference program highlights business and community perspectives on national topics such as energy, market access, capacity building, major projects, and procurement.

The CPA sees the Forward Summit as an opportunity to further understand and collaborate with Indigenous communities across Canada. It will provide a forum to create meaningful conversation that demonstrates the advantages of propane and how it is a viable solution for Indigenous communities to reduce their GHG emissions, reduce land contamination and take control of their energy source through job skills and training.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity and join us at the Forward Summit!

The CPA will be participating in a 75-minute workshop panel that focuses on how the propane industry can best collaborate with Indigenous communities to find alternatives solutions to diesel and oil. Discussion will include how the community can take ownership of their fuel source and become self-sufficient. It will showcase the Xeni Gwet’in pilot project where a First Nations community in central interior BC converted to a solar PV-propane system to reduce diesel consumption by about 143,000 litres per year, providing a savings of $150,00+ annually.

The Association is also looking at renting a pavilion kiosk that would enable CPA members to: meet with key influencers and build relationships with Indigenous communities, explore new business opportunities, learn from success stories of other nations and their Industry partners, educate Indigenous and industry delegates about the benefits of propane, and gain a better understanding of the value of employing an Indigenous workforce, and learning how to do it.

The cost to participate in the kiosk is around $2,700, depending on the number of member participants. Cost would include passes to the summit, workshop and other summit activities, as well as branding promotion.

The CPA will also be participating in the roundtable discussion Hydrocarbons – The Economic Reconciliation Trailblazer with Chief Bernice Martial of Cold Lake First Nations along with other representatives from the energy sector.
