NEW – NS: Government announces significant investment in programs to reduce GHGs
On March 25, 2021, the government of Nova Scotia released their budget, announcing significant investment to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The government is investing $26 million into a new green fund program to address climate change, $16.4 million for infrastructure projects aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and $29.1 million to provide safe, suitable and affordable housing.
The CPA reached out to the Department of Energy and Mines, the lead department for energy efficiency policy to identify opportunity for a rebate program. The province of New Brunswick presently has a rebate program through Efficiency NB and it is hoped that the same program can be duplicated for the province of Nova Scotia.
The CPA is also organizing meetings with Efficiency Nova Scotia, an organization funded by Nova Scotia Power that provides energy efficient solutions for homes and businesses across the province to ensure propane is included in program criteria.
