On September 8, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole named his Shadow Cabinet. These are Conservative MPs whose responsibilities are to follow and critique members of Prime Minister Trudeau’s cabinet.

The CPA has contacted those MPs who carry files that affect the propane industry. They include: natural resources, agriculture, transport, environment and climate change, indigenous services, finance and rural economic development. The purpose of the meetings is to inform these MPs of the Propane Advantage and explain how propane issues are relevant to their area of responsibility.

As of October 6, the CPA has met via Zoom calls with Shadow Critic for Transport, MP Stephanie Kusie; Shadow Critic for Natural Resources Canada, MP Greg McLean; and Shadow Critic for Rural Economic Development, MP John Nater. The calls have been very constructive with MPs receptive to working with the propane industry.

The CPA will continue to schedule virtual meetings with CPC critics as well as look for opportunities to discuss propane issues with other MPs on the government and opposition benches.
