Increasing gathering numbers
The province of Québec will allow indoor gatherings of up to 50 people starting on June 22. The province has announced that in places with seating, people will be expected to keep 1.5 metres apart – but in large gathering areas where there is a lot of circulation, people will still be expected to keep 2 metres apart. In all areas, children under 16 are to keep only 1 metre apart.

Extra time for mechanical checks
Due to the backlog resulting from the pandemic, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec says agents responsible for roadside vehicle inspections are facing a much greater demand than usual.

In this context, the deadline is extended until June 30 for mechanical checks and preventive maintenance that should have been carried out in May and until July 31 for those that should have been carried out in June. The mechanical checks scheduled for July are to be completed by July 31, as usual. Owners are encouraged to keep their current sticker, even if it has expired.

A document to keep in your vehicle is also available on the company's website. If you already have it, you are encouraged to download it again: changes have been made recently. For more information, view SAAQ’s frequently asked questions.
