The CPA filed a pre-budget submission in February to the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. In both submissions, the CPA outlined how the expansion of propane can help reduce energy costs for families and create jobs while reducing GHGs.

The CPA recommended rebates for homeowners to switch off heating oil to propane and for fleet owners to convert fleet vehicles from diesel or gasoline to propane. The CPA also recommended the government include propane as an energy option for government procurement in residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial and transportation applications.

While PEI has yet to table its budget, on March 10, the New Brunswick government tabled a $10.2 billion 2020-21 budget designed to strike a balance among lowering the debt, addressing priority areas and putting money back into the pockets of New Brunswickers.

In the budget, the government of New Brunswick is to allocate $36 million in its environment plan for investment in Climate Change initiatives for the years to come. For more information, please contact Government Relations Director, Atlantic Canada and Quebec, Jean-François Duguay at or 506-480-0275.
