The CPA has been on the move visiting members in Ontario and Quebec to gain first-hand experience, increase their knowledge and better understand members' operations.

In May, CPA President and CEO Nathalie St-Pierre, VP Government Relations Director Allan Murphy and VP Regulatory Affairs Director Rebecca Keeler visited Budget Propane's facility in Valleyfield, QC. The team toured the facility, including seeing rail installations. Thank you to Guy Marchand and Richard Charbonneau and the rest of the Budget team for their time and invaluable knowledge.

Later in June, CPA Advisor George Olah and Ontario Government Relations Director Marcelline Riddell visited the Budget Propane facility in Gravenhurst, Ontario. The site visit allowed Riddell to gain first-hand experience pulling propane hose and navigating rural and remote roads in a bulk truck delivering fuel. It also provided Riddell with the knowledge to educate new Training, Colleges and Universities Minister Rick Romano on how vital driver training is and how critical good truck drivers are to the province’s propane sector. Olah used the opportunity to accompany a trainer for the day to snap photos of the equipment currently in use for illustration in CPA’s training books and manuals. Thanks to James Callow, Jacco Bos, Rick Schroll and all of the Budget family who made this experience possible.

Hands-on site visits such as these are useful because they provide a ground check for CPA staff on current industry practices and help enlighten their work. The CPA is always looking for opportunities to visit members and see their businesses in action.
