On March 28, Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa tabled the 2018-19 Budget.

The Budget announcement is timely as Ontario CPA members get ready for meetings at the Ontario Legislature with Ministers, their staffs, and MPPs on Monday, April 16.

Budget highlights include:

  • Beginning in 2018-19, the Liberal Government will run deficits until 2024-25. The biggest deficit – $6.6 billion – will come in the 2019-20 fiscal year.
  • Proposed new spending of $20.3 billion over three years on health care, child care, and other social services including: Free prescription drugs for everyone 65 or older, a new Ontario Drug and Dental Program, an additional $822 million investment in hospitals, and free preschool child care for children two-and-a-half years or older until they are eligible for kindergarten.
  • Over $935 million over three years for skills and economic development programs, including support for trades, apprenticeships and postsecondary education, diversifying trade, helping businesses grow and compete, and key economic infrastructure.

The Ontario lobby day will provide CPA Ontario members opportunities to meet with elected officials to discuss issues of importance to the propane industry within the province. The day will include meetings with Ministers and MPPs, as well as an all-party reception. Make our industry’s voice heard and attend this event!

If your company is interested in participating in the lobby day, please contact James Daniels at jamesdaniels@propane.ca or 613-683-2275.
