Citing increased demand for transport of temperature-sensitive goods, Hapag-Lloyd announced it plans to order an additional 11,100 reefer containers through December. With the order, the world's fifth largest ocean shipper will realize a 29 percent growth in its refrigerated fleet since 2015.

The CVSA will conduct random inspections on commercial carriers weighing 10,000 or more to capture data on the condition and/or maintennace of rear trailer underride guards. The inspections are in response to a bill submitted by U.S. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) who support legislation that may result in an out-of-service designation for some older trucks.
