As grocery shopping becomes the next frontier for tech companies to conquer amid the Amazon’s and Peapod’s of the world, it is difficult to remember that food is not a guarantee for everyone. According to Feeding America, about 14 percent of Americans experience food insecurity, which is defined by the USDA as "consistent access to adequate food is limited by a lack of money and other resources." On the flip side, up to 40 percent of food goes to waste each year. Clearly, the basic math indicates that our country’s hunger problems are not an issue of lack of supply, but an issue of disproportionate distribution. So where does that 40 percent of waste come from? According to research from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), food waste occurs in each and every step of the supply chain.

63rd Annual Food Shippers of America Conference Sponsors for 2018 include:

Larger brands are looking to gain market share amid greater competition from companies that were quick to respond to changing consumer demand. For more than a century, brands such as Kellogg’s cereal, Campbell’s soup and Aunt Jemima pancake mix were common among American households, and they provided companies with reliable revenue growth, reports the Wall Street Journal. Today, however, these brands are facing strong competition.

Food Shippers of America is proud to announce its partnership with Cvent in creating a new registration process for the 63rd Annual Food Shippers of America Conference scheduled March 11-13, 2018, at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, AZ. The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, "We are urging an employee of a company providing any imaginable type of service to the U.S. Department of Defense to call us anytime at 866-714-6466 about potential rewards if their employer is ripping off or gouging the DoD on contracts involving food, transportation, fuel, housing, building or for equipment that does not work. Recently a whistleblower received a $38-million-dollar reward for this exact type of information. Whistleblower rewards involving defense contractors or companies providing services to the Defense Department have the potential of being extremely significant as we would like to discuss, provided the whistleblower can prove the wrongdoing-and the wrongdoing is obvious." http://CorporateWhistleblower.Com

Last Friday, we held our Fourth Annual Military Rally in which we honored those who have served in our military. During the event we were able to honor five C.R. England employees, four of which were drivers who received a veteran branded truck. We were also pleased to introduce the Department of Labor and VA approved Apprentice Program we are calling "Operation Success", which allows GI Bill Eligible Veterans to earn additional tax-free income from the VA paired with their regular C.R. England pay during their first year. We hope this helps the veterans who do choose to work at C.R. England and sets them up for success in their career.

Kellogg’s shares are now down 22 percent from their highs a year ago, and the current valuation makes a lot more sense. This company has a long history of increasing dividends, and another dividend increase is expected later this month. Kellogg has transformed itself away from a mostly cereal company into a global snack foods powerhouse. Conservative investors should put this stock on their radar for future purchase should the price continue to decline.

When H.J. Heinz Co. bought Kraft Foods Group Inc. in 2015, it was announced that the Kraft Heinz cheese plant in Campbell, N.Y., would be closed.
