Two years after Florida lawmakers passed a law created to allow high school classes to begin later in the morning, the Florida Senate this week unanimously passed a bill that would undo the law and leave it up to local officials to decide when schools start. Lawmakers had favored the law because of research showing teens were not getting enough sleep. Schools were facing a 2026 deadline to comply.        (News4Jax)
A new bill has been introduced in the Florida Senate that would create a universal free breakfast and lunch program in the state for public school students. If passed, officials say the majority of the funds for Senate Bill 74 would come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the state would only have to supplement a small amount. (Spectrum News)
