Spanning over 55 years, Sax’s international and North American forensic and geotechnical engineering career has been extensive. His expertise includes pavement design, shallow and deep foundations for tall buildings, deep water bulkheads, vibratory foundations, pile and drilled shafts for public works projects, geosynthetic design/installation, rock blasting consultation and vibration monitoring, forensic geo-technical engineering, building and site damage assessment, sinkhole detection and remediation, and airport and roadway pavement evaluations. Sax has provided expert testimony at over 120 depositions and over 12 trials, as well as at hearings and mediations. He has also served as an evaluator and peer reviewer of technical expert’s reports. Sax is a leader within the Academy of Forensic Engineers and is a Certified Forensic Litigation Consultant (CFLC) by FEWA.

In light of an ongoing case, the Supreme Court may soon clarify to what extent forensic expert testimony may utilize others’ work. (ExpertPages)

To assist the Court in assessing the weight and reliability of their testimony, experts must present explanations that go beyond simple findings and include insights into their methodologies. (Expert Witness Profiler)

Rule 702 took effect on Dec. 1, but it has informally been in effect for several months as courts have already cited the revisions in evaluating proposed expert testimony. (National Law Review)
