Nina Rodd, Ph.D is a clinical and forensic psychologist. She has been a mental health professional for 39 years, working in clinical and hospital settings, as well as teaching clinical and forensic psychology graduate courses at several universities. A new initiative has launched to address the disproportionate number of female expert witness and increase the number of women acting as expert witnesses in court cases and arbitrations. Presenting peer-reviewed literature that contradicts an opposing expert’s opinion can make the difference between winning and losing a motion to exclude. “The mental status examination is often discussed by expert witnesses in court as if it is an objective measure. It is not, and this use can confuse the trier of fact,” asserts forensic psychologist and Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Martin Williams. Calendar of Events
