Industry News
Most lawyers pay their bills. On occasion, an expert witness will submit a bill that goes unpaid. If a lawyer disputes the legitimacy of the bill, calm communication will often resolve the problem. If the lawyer doesn’t want to pay because the case went south and the lawyer doesn’t want to pay expenses from his own pocket, the expert may need to sue to collect fees. Have you heard that expert witnesses are not supposed to advertise their services? If so, then you need to read this article from FEWA affiliate Expert Communications! I have been doing expert witness legal work for 15 years. It’s not for the faint of heart. Key points of contention are communications between partners, agreements that are insufficiently in writing and forecasting changes.
