FEWA News
Do you know of someone who has gone above and beyond recently? Let us recognize their professional contributions by featuring them as the FEWA Member Spotlight in our bi-weekly newsletter! If you have someone in mind, send their name and accomplishments to info@forensic.org. We are excited to announce that FEWA is moving to a new membership platform. This new platform will offer members a much more user-friendly experience. Until then, through the end of July, the member portal will be “under construction.” FEWA Member Spotlight

Implicit bias is a psychological term that attempts to describe the unconscious prejudices and stereotypes we form without awareness. It is human nature to have these unknown biases, whether we want to admit it or not. We form biases owing to our education, experience, culture and history. Our minds form biases based on unconscious associations over time, intentionally or unintentionally. What do you do when you have a complex issue that is crucial to your case, but difficult for an average person to understand because it is related to a highly specialized field? You get the help of an expert witness. Depending on where your case is taking place, there are different rules for what is required of an expert witness’s report in order for it to be accepted by the court. The demand for forensic auditing services is soaring during our ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. In the space of Certified Public Accountants (CPA) service offerings, forensic auditing is a recognized tool for detecting and preventing fraud or financial crimes. Civil and criminal cases require forensic expert testimony when the judge and jury can’t conclude the case based on other facts. An expert witness presents an unbiased, evidence-based, and detailed testimony or reports in easy-to-understand language. The purpose is to ensure the judge and jury understand the complex information and streamline the decision-making process. Calendar of Events
