FEWA Chapter News

On February 12, members of our Dallas Chapter attended a local Dallas Bar Association New Member Welcome Fiesta to welcome newly licensed attorneys to the Dallas legal community as well as give them an opportunity to mix, mingle and learn more about associations and services like FEWA. There were over 250 lawyers in attendance, including members of our sponsor Law Firms, Officers and Directors of the Dallas Bar Association Board of Directors and affiliate/sister bar associations. This was a great opportunity for the Dallas Chapter to spread the awareness of FEWA, our members, and your expertise!

So you’re picking an expert witness for your case. What kind of person do you want? Someone with the highest credentials from the best institutions? Someone with a lot of on-the-ground experience in this area? Someone who is able to teach effectively? This checklist should be useful for the attorneys who are hiring and preparing experts, as well as for the experts themselves.

Working as a certified public accountant involves plenty of alone time with financial documents. For some CPAs, that’s right up their alley. But others crave using their skills in more collaborative ways. That’s where acting as an expert witness for audit litigation comes in.

The complex nature of environmental issues that come across a lawyer's desk often require highly technical expertise from any (or all) of a number of highly specialized disciplines. Expertise could be needed from fields that include geology; hydrology; hydrogeology, engineering, organic and inorganic chemistry, toxicology, epidemiology and even meteorology.
