The Canadian Anti Spam Law (CASL) applies to all commercial electronic communications (CEM’s) whether they be about membership, bulletins, committee materials, FENCETECH, meetings or other industry information. Sending AFA bulletins to a Canadian member’s email address would fall under the definition of CEM. In order to send these messages, AFA must have some form of consent, express or implied. You will also have to keep records of the consent.

Recent changes in Canadian law affect AFA’s ability to communicate with you through Commercial Electronic Messages. These are communications to an email, instant messaging, telephone or similar account. Under the law, we only need your implied consent to communicate with you in this manner until June 30, 2017. Our existing relationship with you as a member of AFA has given and may continue to give us that implied consent. Effective July 1, 2017, however, the Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) could require that we have your express, affirmative consent in order for us to continue communicating with you via email, text message or pre-recorded voice messages.

Industry certifications not only set you apart from your competitors, but they reflect your commitment to education and training. Now is the time to obtain your Blue Ribbon Company (BRC), Certified Fence Professional (CFP), Certified Automated Gate Operator Installer ( CAGOI), or Certified Automated Gate Systems Designer ( CAGSD).

Minimum requirements vary for each certification. Visit the AFA website to learn more.
