Raising the Bar to 250k As a member of the American Fence Association, you know the high priority we place on education. In 2003, AFA formed the AFA Education Foundation (AFAEF), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, to bring educational opportunities into reach for people in the fence industry. Scholarships are given to highly deserving candidates enrolled in a college or trade school. These candidates are either employed in the fence, deck, and railing industry or the child of a current industry employee – these are OUR industry peers! Reaching a $250k benchmark enables greater impact on the students and families in our industry. It allows AFAEF to apply for matching funds from corporate and private foundations, including the Gates Foundation and many others. The Education Foundation is challenging chapters to give $5,000 and companies to give $1,000. Thanks to our generous donors, we have raised $135,718.96.

The May/June issue of Fencepostis now online. Catch up on the latest ways to keep homeowners and residents safe this summer around the pool, in our cover story, "On the Safe Side: Fencing and Hardware Choices for Pool Barriers." Look back at AFA's history in our article and infographic, "The Journey" and read about best practices in farm and ranch fencing in the story, "Keeping Critters." These are just a few of the many interesting articles found in the latest issue of Fencepost.

The magazine has a new look and fresh content to help AFA members stay informed on the latest association news and industry information. You will be able to read Fencepost on your desktops, tablets or smart phones and stay in the know! The digital edition contains the same articles, images and ads as the printed copy in a convenient format that mimics the print version. We're excited to bring you this improved version of Fencepost and would like to hear your feedback. Contact the magazine's editor-in-chief at editor@americanfenceassociation.com.
