AFA MEMBERS MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE INDUSTRY

Long-time AFA member, Past President, and industry leader Phillip Doyle, CFP, CAGOI, CAGSD is a member of the coalition committee, which is made up of representatives of AFA, DASMA, NOMMA and the IDA. This committee meets four to five times each year to review the Certified Automated Gate Operator Installer (CAGOI) and Certified Automated Gate Systems Designer (CAGSD) study guides.

Their current focus is updating the existing study guides and exams to align with the new UL325 revision set to take effect this fall 2018. The updated curriculum for Operator Installer School (OIS) is slated for completion prior to this year’s AFA University in November.

The group is also working on a new certification program for Automated Gate Technicians that is tentatively scheduled to launch in the next twelve months. The program will be a tiered system that ultimately leads to a Master Technician designation. More details will follow.

In addition to his work with the coalition committee, Phillip also serves on the Standards Technical Panel (STP) committee for UL325. This is one of many examples of how AFA members are making a difference. AFA could not continue to move the fence industry forward without the support of our volunteers. We thank our Board of Directors, Chapter Presidents Committee, and committee volunteers for your ongoing efforts to strengthen the industry.
