What's New in the FAA
Important changes to the FAA Lease, also known as the FAA Click & Lease Powered by Blue Moon Software, will take effect January 1.
 
At the 2016 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show, a panel of three of the nation’s leading data provider firms will share the latest data about the apartment industry and will offer their insights about what is driving these numbers.
 
The national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued guidelines that apartment communities and management companies can follow to help control the mosquito populations and thus help minimize the spread of the Zika virus.
 
To help celebrate the theme of "People, Purpose, Passion," this year's FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show will include a "Philanthropy Zone," which will spotlight some of the many ways local affiliates, apartment communities, management companies, and supplier partners support various charities, nonprofits, and other worthy causes.
 
Local code enforcement officials in Hollywood, Fla., are posing as buyers and visiting homes for sale. In some instances, the code enforcement officials are later giving citations to homeowners. Proceeds from a wine tasting at the 2016 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show will support the Nan Cavarretta Memorial Scholarship Fund, which funds continuing education for emerging leaders in the multifamily housing industry through FAA's Leadership Lyceum program.
 
A silent auction to benefit FAA's Apartment Political Action Committee (APAC) will take place during the APAC All Hands on Deck Yacht Party, to be held October 5 in Boca Raton in conjunction with the 2016 FAA Annual Conference & Trade Show. The NAA Board of Directors has approved a statement of policy on energy efficiency benchmarking requirements for apartments. Benchmarking itself is an emerging standard practice for many owners and operators in the industry; however, the issue still represents significant operational challenges as more localities seek to mandate these requirements.
