FAA's New Government Affairs Director

We’re pleased to report that Courtney Barnard has been hired as the Florida Apartment Association’s new government affairs director. Her first day with the association will be Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014
 
Courtney is a native of California and an alumna of Scripps College, where she graduated with a published thesis on constitutional reform and earned a bachelor of arts in politics and international relations. While a student at Scripps College, she studied abroad in England, Belgium and Sweden. Courtney has also earned a certificate in public policy from the University of Washington and is currently finishing her master's degree at the University of Central Florida.
 
Prior to joining the Florida Apartment Association, Courtney worked in the Florida Realtors Office of Public Policy where she traveled throughout the state to educate and organize real estate professionals on public policy issues and to raise funds for the Florida Realtors Political Action Committee.
 
Courtney has also worked on several campaigns in California, specializing in grassroots mobilization efforts and development of Spanish language campaign outreach materials.  

Courtney lives in Central Florida with her husband Gareth, a horticulturist with SeaWorld.
