Milestone Management

It’s been a little over a month since the fire code relief measures included in Senate Bill 1196 (SB1196) took effect, and they are already saving some owners hundreds of thousands of dollars!  Less than 30 days from implementation, one of our members received a notice from the City of Largo that due to the changes in SB1196 they would no longer be required to retrofit their apartment community with costly fire alarm systems.  As such, they realized a savings of nearly $200K.

This is proof positive that involvement in the legislative process matters, and that when our members, FAA leadership, and staff work together we can truly make a difference!  As President-Elect and Legislative Committee Chair I encourage you to keep up to date with legislative happenings, take action when called upon, support the Apartment Political Action Committee, and join us in Tallahassee for FAA Legislative Days scheduled  for March, 2011.

If you have questions about SB1196, APAC, or other FAA legislative matters please feel contact Chip Tatum, FAA Government Affairs Director, at chip@fl-apartments.org or visit www.fl-apartments.org!
