Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota (GESMN) marked a transformative moment in its century-long mission to eliminate barriers to employment with the grand opening of its new Career & Services Campus in St. Paul. The open house event welcomed community leaders, employer partners, donors, and national representatives from Goodwill Industries International and Easter Seals, celebrating a bold investment in Minnesota’s workforce future.  Electrical Association was named GESMN Construction Partner of the year in 2025.

Located at 1270 Energy Lane, the state-of-the-art facility spans over 50,000 square feet and is designed to meet the evolving needs of job seekers and employers alike. The campus features hands-on training spaces, digital literacy labs, and flexible classrooms tailored to high-demand industries—including a groundbreaking addition: the Clean Technology Program.

A Vision for Clean Energy Careers

The Clean Tech program is a direct response to the growing demand for skilled workers in the green energy sector. With training in solar panel installation, heat pump systems, and electric vehicle support equipment repair, GESMN is positioning Minnesotans at the forefront of the clean energy revolution.

“This is more than the opening of a building—it’s the beginning of new opportunities, new partnerships, and new possibilities for the people we serve,” said Dr. Michael Wirth-Davis, President and CEO of GESMN, who also celebrated his 35th year leading the organization.

The Clean Tech initiative is part of a national partnership with Accenture and Goodwill Industries International, known as the Clean Tech Accelerator, which aims to prepare 7,000 individuals nationwide for careers in clean energy over the next five years.

Training That Transforms Lives

GESMN’s programs are designed to be accessible and impactful. Participants can earn industry-recognized credentials in as little as 4–12 weeks, often at no cost, and receive stipends or training wages during select courses. The curriculum is built to connect graduates directly with employers, ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce.

In addition to Clean Tech, the campus offers training in automotive, construction, business services, and financial industries, along with wraparound support services like career navigation, family stability programs, and disability services.

A Community Celebration

The open house featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, guided tours, and a proclamation from the City of St. Paul, officially declaring November 4 as Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota Career & Services Day. Attendees included:

  • Steven Preston, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries International
  • Kendra Davenport, President & CEO of Easter Seals
  • Kortney Cartwright, GESMN Board Chair
  • Lauren Beecham Henry, Chair of the Goodwill-Easter Seals Foundation Board

Looking Ahead

With over 5,000 Minnesotans served annually, GESMN’s new campus is a beacon of hope and opportunity. It reflects a deep commitment to building career pathways that not only strengthen the local economy but also empower individuals and families across the state.
