As I write this month’s column, I have just returned from the CMP Conclave at the MGM National Harbor where more than 400 events professionals gathered. As always, it was a wonderful experience, and brought a new perspective.

For me, it started on Sunday attending our CMP Governance Commission meeting. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting four of the five incoming commission members who were invited to attend and observe.

Events and Programmes
The theme of the 2017 CMP Conclave was ‘Perspectives’. As event planners and designers, we create the environment in which our participants live, learn, share and innovate. In doing so, we need to consider the perspectives of all our potential participants to design events that are welcoming, inclusive and accessible to encourage full and dignified participation for all. It’s not only the right thing to do — it’s also good business sense to expand your audience, improve the quality of your events and strengthen your reputation.

Find easy and practical ways to design more inclusive events by encouraging diversity and making your events more accessible for people with disabilities.
