Stop Procrastinating, Start Recertifying

Do you like to save money? I know I do! And likely, all of us do.

Do you know that if you recertify your CMP early in the year, you save money? Well, you do! In the previous issue of CMP Today, I mentioned that I am up for recertification this year. Recertifying by April 30 means I will save $50 off my recertification fee.

Here is how it breaks out:

It literally pays to not procrastinate. So, now you are thinking that you just do not have the time to get it done by April 30, but that is not the case. The days of completing loads of paperwork and taking days to complete is a thing of the past. The Events Industry Council has a great online system that tracks your education and makes it easy to upload documents. No more taking a huge packet to the post office to mail out. Instead, your entire recertification can now be completed in a few easy steps.

To recertify today, visit www.eventscouncil.org and login (button in top right corner) using the email address on file with Events Industry Council. Click on the "recertify" link in the CMP Certification box. Enter any additional education hours that have not been pre-populated into your account. Upload your current resume that demonstrates you have been working in the industry for three years, and enter your work experience in the online grid.

Pay the recertification application fee of $200 if you recertify by April 30, 2018 (remember the fee increases after April 30 and again after August 31). That is it. You are done. It is that easy!

If you are not recertifying in 2018, it would still be a good idea to log in and update your education hours now in order to save even more time when you are ready to recertify in future years.

If you have a problem logging in, you can reach out to the extremely helpful Events Industry Council team at certification@eventscouncil.org.

So now here is the bigger question: What will you do with the $50 you just saved?

Sincerely,

Erin Tench, CMP, CMM
