How do you feel about the level of stress in various roles in the Events Industry? Would you categorise them as stressful and demanding? According to a CareerCast Study, event coordinators are constantly ranked in the top 10 most stressful jobs. From event planners to sales to operations teams and of course, the technicians on the event...there’s a lot going on!

There’s great news!  Employers are stepping up like never before to celebrate, promote and encourage Health and Wellness in the months of May and June. So, what can you do to play your part?

1. Challenge: Create a team, company, or self-challenge for yourself. Download one of the million apps, buy that smartwatch you want (or a smart ring!) and get at it.

2. Practice Mindfulness: Emotional resilience is the ability to calm and direct your mind after a difficult experience. Having a bad day? Five minutes of mindfulness can get you back on track.

3. Inflation: Getting worked up over those grocery bills? Gas? Look into resources to take control of your money versus it controlling you. Your employer may have some free benefits or change your habits with a plan (I like Dave Ramsey).

4. Social: Music to our ears...people want to be in-person again. We should lead the way – get out there and enjoy what you were prior to March 2020!

5. Therapy: Feeling down and don’t know what to do? Seeking therapy from a mentor or licensed professional is nothing, let me say it again, nothing to be ashamed of! It will be uplifting and rewarding in the long run.

One of my favorite characteristics to chat about is Self-Awareness. Self-Awareness is the ability to understand and have knowledge of one’s own character, feelings, motives and desires. Start by looking inward, pick an action or two, make SMART goals around it and WIN!
