National nonresidential construction spending increased 0.4% in August, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published today by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $1.09 trillion.
 
Spending was up on a monthly basis in 12 of the 16 nonresidential subcategories. Private nonresidential spending increased by 0.3%, while public nonresidential construction spending was up 0.6% in August. - ABC National
Declines in office building and single-family home construction this year aren’t slowing Dallas-Fort Worth construction hiring. D-FW led the country in construction employment gains during the 12 months through the end of August, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America. A total of 19,700 construction sector jobs were added in the year. Construction employment grew in more than 60% of U.S. metro areas during the same period. - Dallas Morning News

The two-day TEXO OSHA 10-Hour course serves as an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Workers must receive additional training on the specific hazards of the job when required by OSHA standards. After completing the course, participants are mailed an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry Outreach wallet-sized card.

This is an instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrive. Skills covered in this course include first aid for sudden illnesses, injuries and protection from blood-borne pathogens, choking relief and sudden cardiac arrest for adults. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course-completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety course is intended for supervisors or for workers with some safety responsibility. It provides a greater depth and variety of training on an expanded list of topics associated with workplace hazards than the TEXO Safety First class. Topics include recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards found in the workplace.
