Cybersecurity experts around the world are sounding the alarm about a potential increase in Russia-led cyberattacks following the country's Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, and some say the construction industry could be a target.
According to CNN, U.S. officials are concerned that the incursion could spill over into cyberspace, and warned businesses, banks and local governments about being vigilant against threats. Construction companies should be on high alert as well, according to Raymond Monteith, senior vice president with HUB International Limited’s risk services division.
Associated Builders and Contractors today released its fourth annual Top Performers lists, which ranks its commercial and industrial contractor members that build long-lasting, high-quality construction projects, based on work hours. The No. 1 2022 ABC Top Performer is Turner Industries Group, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; followed by Balfour Beatty, Dallas; Brown & Root Industrial Services, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; BL Harbert International, Birmingham, Alabama; and S&B Engineers and Constructors, Houston.

On every complex construction project, individuals representing dozens of companies are brought together to design and construct a unique structure that will meet the unique budget and functional needs of the end user. The technical expertise and persistent efforts of hundreds—even thousands—of highly trained individuals are required for a successful project. While participation in the design and construction industry is both satisfying and rewarding, that does not mean it’s an easy process.
The good news: advancements in building design and construction technology are making daily life easier for the millions of people who work in this industry.
