A former head of California's Division of Occupational Safety and Health has won Senate confirmation to head up the federal counterpart. Douglas Parker's new title will be assistant secretary of labor, giving him authority over the Occupational Safety and Health Administration at a time when OSHA is preparing to require that companies with 100 or more employees certify that they have been vaccinated against the coronavirus or undergo frequent testing.

Young American workers pausing their careers to consider new options are notably disinclined to consider construction, according to a survey. Industry observers attribute this reluctance to a number of factors, including education's focus on digital technology and young people's lack of experience working with their hands, as well as persistent stereotyping of the industry.

This is an instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid for sudden illnesses, injuries and protection from blood-borne pathogens; choking relief and sudden cardiac arrest for adults. This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
