Even with a dip in construction activity this year, Dallas-Forth Worth is hanging on to it's ranking as the country's second largest building market.

  

The Commerce Department denied a steel tariff exemption request for a $1.1 billion Texas shale pipeline, ruling that Plains All American Pipeline could buy the necessary steel in the U.S.

  

ABC has signed on to President Trump’s “Pledge to America’s Workers,” committing to educating and developing at least 500,000 construction workers over the next five years. The pledge stresses the need to expand apprenticeship programs to educate current and future generations of America's workforce.

Construction had the second-largest employment gain of any sector in Texas from the spring (April-June) of 2017 to the spring of 2018, topped only by natural resources and mining (principally oil and gas drilling). AGC of America issued the attached release and tables on Friday that rank all states and D.C. by change in construction employment through June. Texas added the most construction jobs of any state over the past 12 months (42,900, 6.0%), including 2,900 jobs from May to June, seasonally adjusted.
