Every day the construction industry is building, expanding and creating. KIDstruction Week is an opportunity for the North Texas regional architectural, engineering and construction industries to join together to build strong tomorrows for kids by supporting the Children’s Health mission to make life better for children.  Participating companies offer their employees the opportunity to contribute $1, via payroll deduction for every hour worked during KIDstruction Week in March.  Click here for more information!

Millennials in Construction: Learning to Engage A New Workforce – FMI Corp, a leading provider of investment banking and management consulting services for the engineering and construction industry, announced the release of their report "Millennials in Construction- Learning to Engage a New Workforce." Findings are based on a combination of survey responses and interviews from almost 400 individuals who work in the construction industry nationwide; half of those participants represent millennials (individuals born between 1980 and 2000).  To review the report and findings click here!

It seems every major daily newspaper in Texas is reporting on the many job cuts in our state's oil and gas industry. AGC of America just released "Ready to Hire Again: The 2015 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook." In summary, the 10-page report describes the growing shortage of qualified workers-especially craft workers. That's one of the reasons an industry coalition developed a new statewide workforce development website, www.texasconstructioncareers.com. It is designed to connect laid off workers to meaningful, well-paying jobs in the construction industry.  Employers can post positions, check out industry job fairs, and take inventory of all the craft providers in Texas. A six module training course has been created for Site Superintendents to gain a better understanding of the requirements of the Stormwater program. Training will include how to conduct oneself during a regulatory agency’s site inspection and how to conduct a site inspection themselves. Also, training will cover highlights of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and the difference between a structural control and a non-structural control. By the end of the six modules, a Site Superintendent will be more familiar with the vernacular used by stormwater professionals and will be able to display their knowledge so that the regulatory agency is comfortable that their site is in compliance with the program. All module training courses are presented by a member and instructor of the International Erosion Control Associations (IECA).  Part 2 - Register Here
