Over the past several weeks TEXO members have stepped up to contribute $58,340 towards the goal of $75,000 to the TEXO-PAC and $89,600 to the TEXO Advocacy Fund goal of $100,000.

TEXO–PAC, our Associations political action committee, is an essential part of the TEXO political policy and advocacy program. TEXO-PAC provides contributions in support of pro-business free market minded candidates for both statewide office and in local races. As state and local laws and regulations become an ever-increasing presence in your day-to-day business, TEXO-PAC works to make sure your voice is heard by lawmakers and those making public policy decisions.

If you have not done so yet, you still have time to join the growing list of members who have committed to protecting our industry voice in the political arena. Please assist us in meeting our 2015 fundraising goals by clicking here

Thank you! 2015 TEXO-PAC and Advocacy Fund Supporters
It seems every major daily newspaper in Texas is reporting on the many job cuts in our state's oil and gas industry. AGC of America just released "Ready to Hire Again: The 2015 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook." In summary, the 10-page report describes the growing shortage of qualified workers-especially craft workers. That's one of the reasons an industry coalition developed a new statewide workforce development website, www.texasconstructioncareers.com. It is designed to connect laid off workers to meaningful, well-paying jobs in the construction industry.  Employers can post positions, check out industry job fairs, and take inventory of all the craft providers in Texas. TEXO is encouraging its members and their employees to cast their vote in the November 3rd election. We must not allow voter apathy to threaten local initiatives and changes to our Texas constitution to be decided by very few voters. In fact, many areas in North and East Texas municipalities had only 10% or less of the registered voters vote.

November 3rd is the Election Day but you don’t have to wait until then to vote on the issues that have a major impact on you, your business and our community. The polls are open from October 19th – 30th for early voting. Your Vote Does Matter. The more people who vote, the larger the impact will be within our communities.

There are 7 constitutional amendments on your ballot. Proposition 7 would dedicate revenue for long-term transportation projects, allocating about $2.5 billion from the state sales tax for non-toll projects, plus another 35 percent of the motor vehicle sales and rental tax collected above $5 billion. Vote FOR Prop 7.

TEXO members living and voting in the Dallas ISD area will be voting on a $1.6 billion bond package. The bond package includes nine new schools, replacement schools, 290 additional classrooms, new education and career and technical programs to meet the educational needs of our industry and others.

TEXO is supporting the passage of the DISD Bond package. Vote FOR the Dallas ISD Bond package.

Information on all ballot propositions, including Prop 7, can be found here:

A six module training course has been created for Site Superintendents to gain a better understanding of the requirements of the Stormwater program. Training will include how to conduct oneself during a regulatory agency’s site inspection and how to conduct a site inspection themselves. Also, training will cover highlights of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and the difference between a structural control and a non-structural control. By the end of the six modules, a Site Superintendent will be more familiar with the vernacular used by stormwater professionals and will be able to display their knowledge so that the regulatory agency is comfortable that their site is in compliance with the program. All module training courses are presented by a member and instructor of the International Erosion Control Associations (IECA).
