Call for Young Professionals: Contribute to ICOLD's Dams & Sustainability Group
The ICOLD Young Professionals Forum (YPF), together with the Dams & Sustainability (D&S) Group, invites motivated Young Professionals to apply for key volunteer roles supporting global sustainability efforts in dam engineering.
This is a unique chance to collaborate internationally, gain mentorship from leading experts, and help shape the future of sustainable dam development.
Opportunities include:
- Working Group A: Sustainability Standards & Gap Analysis
- Identify methodological gaps
- Explore cooperation with the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance (HSA)
- Coordinate with ICOLD Technical Committees
- Propose future joint workstreams
Candidate profile: Experience in sustainability; familiarity with the Hydropower Sustainability Standard (HSS).
- Working Group B: GHG Emissions & Webinar #3
- Develop emission factor databases
- Propose LCA-based comparison methodologies
- Cover emissions from materials, construction, maintenance, and reservoirs
- Support and follow-up of the outcomes of ICOLD Webinar #3 on GHG (November 2025)
Candidate profile: Expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA) and GHG accounting.
- D&S Documentation Center: Knowledge & Resource Management
- Track and curate relevant publications, reports, and tools
- Maintain updated content on the ICOLD website
- Manage the documentation structure
Candidate profile: Broad understanding of sustainability; skills in information sourcing and documentation management.
