The Canada Water Agency and Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, have published a new Report on Knowledge Gained under Annex 2 of the 2014 Canada-Ontario Agreement on Great Lakes Water Quality and Ecosystem Health (COA). This report meets a commitment under the 2021 COA to summarize the learnings and recommendations from more than 120 studies carried out on harmful pollutants between 2014 and 2021.

The results and knowledge gained from the report have led to an improved understanding of pollution sources and releases from industrial, agricultural and wastewater treatment plants into rivers and lakes in the Great Lakes Basin. The report will help Canada and Ontario identify future priorities for action under COA to protect and restore the Great Lakes.
