The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) has launched The North American Portal on Climate Pollutants - a new web platform designed to make the data from air pollutant emissions inventories for Canada, Mexico and the United States comparable and easy for researchers and policy experts to use. The Portal involves three key components:
  • a menu of search tools for accessing trinational emissions inventory data:
  • a data dictionary that defines a common framework to enhance the comparability of different inventories through the use of semantic tags for air pollutant emissions inventories of any kind:
  • a publicly accessible application programming interface (API) to distribute trinational emissions inventory data to advanced users, front-end developers, and researchers:
Currently the North American Portal on Climate Pollutants includes inventory data for Greenhouse Gas (GHG), Black Carbon (BC) and Short-Lived Climate Pollutant (SLCP) emissions. The inclusion of Criteria Air Contaminant (CAC) inventories is anticipated in the near future
