On March 22, 2019, (World Water Day), the Quebec government posted its 2019-2025 Québec Drinking Water Strategy. The three objectives for the period 2019-2025 are:

  • to reduce by 20% the amount of water distributed per person, compared to 2015;
  • to achieve a moderate level of leakage in the pipes; and
  • to ensure the sustainability of drinking water services by making the necessary investments to maintain infrastructure and gradually eliminating maintenance deficits, where they exist.

In addition, the Strategy contains a series of measures and objectives adapted to the characteristics of each municipality that has access to water and a drinking water distribution network. Special attention will be paid to support and equip small municipalities through regional training tours, webinars and increased support provided by the Strategy''s technical support team.
