Water Haller: Climate Change Focus in Montreal

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

As the final program has come together for the National Conference in Montreal this November, a theme on climate change is arising. In addition to some panel discussions in multiple streams, we are book-ending the event with a focus on climate change across Canada.

I cannot ‘officially’ confirm the Opening Plenary speaker yet, but we have a choice of a couple great speakers on this topic of climate change and how it is affecting water systems in Canada and around the world. Then we will end the conference with an in-depth panel discussion on the impact climate change is having on our communities, the adaptation that will be required and the expectations being placed on us as water professionals. The panel will approach this topic from the view of the senior manager, looking at all the many factors that are at play at once and how we are reacting as professionals. This critical discussion will be relevant to all of us -- small, medium and large utilities.

Remember (and I cannot emphasize this enough), the greatest thing about a national conference is the networking. This event will draw senior water professionals - utility managers, private sector, academics and regulators -- from across Canada to share and learn and build those support networks we all need to best serve our communities.

I expect to see you all in Montreal! www.nwwc2018.ca
