CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
The California Trucking Association (CTA) and many of its members have been longtime supporters of Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT). Since its inception, CTA and its members have contributed over $25,000 to TAT to help fund their efforts on combating human trafficking. TAT is raising up a mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of human trafficking, in order to aid in the recovery of victims and the arrests of their perpetrators.

As you know the California Trucking Association (CTA) supports CABIA’s efforts on seeking relief for the Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) through their litigation efforts. CABIA’s litigation is focused on state and federal “equal protection” claims based on an exemption contained in AB 1654. Their due process and separation of powers claims will be addressed on appeal. CABIA’s trial setting conference is scheduled for January 17th, 2020. As things progress CTA will update its membership. View a copy of the CABIA Litigation Update

With the 2019-2020 winter months upon us, I'd like to call your attention to the California Trucking Association's (CTA) Pusher Truck Program, one of the many CTA member benefits that makes a difference for thousands of trucking companies each year as they pass the tough mountain climb on Interstate 80.
Compliance and Regulatory News

Less than two months remain to transition from AOBRD to ELDs. To help carriers during the transition from AOBRDs to ELDs, ATA has developed an AOBRD/ELD Migration Preparation Guide  and Preparation Video.  Carriers currently using a grandfathered Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD) have until December 16, 2019 to become compliant with the ELD rule. After this date, all drivers subject to the ELD rule will be required to utilize an ELD that is self-certified with FMCSA. ATA does not expect the agency to delay this final enforcement date.
