CTA in Action: Government Affairs Update
Last week, the California Trucking Association (CTA) and two California independent owner-operator drivers filed a lawsuit in U.S. Southern District Court seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against the unconstitutional interpretation of the state’s wage order test by the California Supreme Court (Court) in its Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court (Dynamex) decision. In the suit, plaintiffs contend that the Dynamex decision prohibits independent owner-operator drivers from contracting and performing trucking services for licensed motor carriers in California.
CTA is a member of the Road Charge Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and Brady Tacdol with Caltrans gave an update on the Road Charge TAC to the CTA Highway Policy Committee on Thursday, October 11. The Legislature created a Road Charge Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to study road charging because the state gas tax is not able to generate enough money to fix all the 50,000 miles of roads in California.
