Last Friday, December 9, was the official deadline for county election officials to certify results with the Secretary of State, with zero ballots left to be counted.

As it stands today, the partisan split of the Assembly stands at 62 democrats to 18 repubiclans, with the majority caucus picking up 2 seats. The partisan split of the Senate stands at 32 democrats to 8 republicans, with the Democrats picking up 1 seat.

Two races are still close enough that the apparent loser has not yet conceded:
SD16: Hurtado (D) leads Shepard (R) by 20 votes
AD47: Wallis (R) leads Holstege (D) by 85 votes
As you may be aware, pre-2010 tractor engine model years will be unable to operate in California starting January 1, 2023.

The Truck and Bus Regulation allows for vehicles to continue to be driven in California while waiting for their replacement vehicle by claiming the manufacturer delay extension in TRUCRS.

If you have purchased a new vehicle that will replace your pre-210 tractor on or before September 1, 2022, you can operate your pre-210 tractor in California if you claim the extension.

You are required to claim the extension in the TRUCRS online database from January 1, 2023 – January 31, 2023.

Created by CTA members, the TUFSOB Scholarship Program came about at the 1992 Annual Membership Conference at the Hotel de Coronado in San Diego. The TUFSOB program was the brainchild of Bud Wallace (Cascade Drayage & Warehousing, Inc.), along with Joe Nievez (Quikway Trucking Company), Connie Garcin (Garcin & Associates), and Bob Crites (Condor Freight Lines, Inc.). These four came together, writing out their plan on a cocktail napkin, and implemented a way to raise funds and award grants to trucking's next generation.

Scholarship awards go towards high school graduates entering college, as well those continuing their college education. The TUFSOB program also supports those that wish to go to trade schools, as well as adults wishing to go to college that are sponsored by a member can also qualify for subsidies. Anyone that supports the trucking industry is considered, as long as they are sponsored by a CTA member company.

Proceeds from The TUFSOB (Truckers United Fraternity Super Offspring of the Boss) Golf Tournament go to build a scholarship fund that will make direct grants to children of those involved in the California trucking industry that are pursuing a higher education.
