The Oakland A's and Major League Baseball issued a statement last week claiming that if the City of Oakland will not approve their $12 billion private residential and commercial waterfront development project and massive taxpayer subsidy, the team will move out of Oakland. While the Oakland A's have claimed to be "Rooted in Oakland," we now see that was only if the city would hand out hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars to fund a massive real estate development.  Below are two key articles that have pushed back against the team’s attempt to intimidate lawmakers into approving a multi-million dollar taxpayer subsidy:

Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors
This virtual training seminar is required of all employees who supervise those involved in a safety-sensitive position. Supervisory employees are mandated to have a minimum of 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes of training on controlled substances use. This training will meet those requirements and you will receive a certificate for successful completion of this training. (Title 49 CFR Part 382.603)

Sailing Through Your BIT
This virtual training seminar will cover California’s Basic Inspection of Terminal (BIT) Program requirements for terminal inspections performed by the California Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Operations Program personnel.  Course material will provide in depth overview of applicability of BIT Program statutory and Motor Carrier Safety regulatory requirements.  
 
Such requirements are:
  • Maintenance Program – Preventive Maintenance and 90 Day Periodic Inspection
  • Driver Records – Hours of Service, Driver Proficiency, Employer Pull Notice
  • Vehicle Inspection
  • Hazardous Materials
Students will be provided a “BIT Kit.” This is a library of course material to take with them from the training containing essential forms and reference material.
