CalSavers is a retirement savings program for private sector workers whose employers do not offer a retirement plan. Employers with five or more employees must participate in CalSavers if they do not already have a workplace retirement plan. The deadline to register is based on the size of the business. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first registration deadline is extended to September 30, 2020, for employers with more than 100 employees. For more information, visit the California State Treasurer CalSavers page.
The California Transportation Plan 2050 (CTP) is now available for public review. The CTP sets a vision for the transportation system and will guide California’s transportation investments over the next 30-years. This long-range transportation plan is the result of collaborative research, technical analysis, and stakeholder input. As Caltrans continues to refine the draft CTP, CTA will review and provide comments. The draft and more information can be found here: www.CTP2050.com. If you would like to provide feedback, please contact CTA.

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the trucking industry’s not-for-profit research organization, today launched the 2020 Top Industry Issues Survey. The annual survey asks trucking industry stakeholders to rank the top issues of concern for the industry along with potential strategies for addressing each issue. By completing this brief survey, you provide ATRI with important data used to move the industry forward on the issues that matter most. | SURVEY
FMCSA published a Notice in the Federal Register requesting comments on a proposed “Split Duty Period Pilot Program”. Last year, as part of the HOS rulemaking, the agency proposed a 30-minute to 3-hour “pause” on a CMV driver’s 14-hour clock; however, with no supporting safety data, the agency chose not to include the split duty period provision in the final HOS rule. Instead, FMCSA is conducting a pilot program to obtain meaningful data on this provision.
Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) Deputy Director, Kylla Lanier, is putting the TAT in tattoo and the FUN in fundraiser with her latest endeavor to raise support for the cause.
