Independent Contractors Showed Up in Mass to Support Their Right to Work

Print this Article | Send to Colleague

This past week, nearly 250 independent contractors from many different industries, including trucking, gathered in Sacramento on the steps of the State Capitol to rally in support of legislation that would provide a "pause" to the Dynamex decision. Owner operators were the vast majority of those who attended the rally. Thank you to our CTA members for supporting independent contractors right to work independently. The rally also included: beauty consultants, speech therapists, ER doctors, non-profit music schools, and ride share drivers.

After the rally, independent contractors spent the day visiting with legislators from across the state and shared their stories of how the decision endangers their ability to work independently.

The Dynamex decision threatens nearly 2 million Californians' ability to continue working as independent contractors. CTA is a leader in the I'm Independent Coalition that is working to address the Dynamex decision through the legislative process.
