Our bank was founded in an effort to serve our local community over 45 years ago, in Tustin, California.  We believe our desire to serve as a local bank, by adding value and fueling growth within the communities, neighborhoods and businesses we serve, is the reason we have been successful.   

 

In the last few years, we have expanded from Southern California into the metropolitan business areas of Arizona, Idaho, Washington, and Utah.  We’ve done this by remaining true to our roots as a neighborhood bank and serving the community - wherever that community may be located.  We are honored to have been recognized for this commitment with many awards over the years, including being ranked as one of the "Top 200 Community Banks in the United States," by American Banker Magazine in their May 2016 edition¹.

 

One way we serve our community is by offering progressive banking solutions, like the creation of the Transportation and Logistics Specialty Lending Group in 2015.  This group was started and continues to be led by Rick Goodman, an over 8-year veteran of the transportation financing industry. 

 

The trucking industry faces many unique challenges including legislative and environmental regulations on both state and federal levels.  We seek to better understand these challenges to further our knowledge of the industry.  This knowledge helps us customize financial products and banking solutions that help companies meet the specific challenges they face.

Sunwest Bank became a Preferred Circle Club Partner of the California Trucking Association (CTA) in April of 2015.  We believe that we cannot fully understand and meet the needs of trucking organizations without creating a strong relationship with the CTA, arguably the strongest voice for truckers in California. 

 

Sunwest Bank recently expanded the relationship with the CTA by leveraging existing partnerships with Elan Financial Services and UMS Banking:

• Elan Financial Services, based in Minneapolis, MN, has close to 50 years of experience as a leader in the agent issuance of credit cards.  They work with over 1,400 financial institutions to provide credit card programs to their clients.  Beginning in April 2016, a credit card program was established with Sunwest Bank through Elan, becoming a provider of credit cards to management and key personnel within the CTA organization.  
• UMS Banking, founded in 1987 and headquartered in Glendale, CA, specializes in online integrated and mobile merchant bankcard payment processing solutions, as well as standard terminal solutions.  They assist companies to increase revenue and profits through the acceptance of credit cards.  Their state-of-the-art payment processing systems increase efficiencies and deposits funds into your banking account daily.  Through UMS, Sunwest Bank became the sole source of merchant bankcard processing for the organization, also in April 2016.
