The Fisher River Cree First Nation Solar Farm is now generating electricity. The solar farm is the first Indigenous-owned, utility scale solar farm in Canada and will sell energy generated from its 3,000 panels to Manitoba Hydro for the next 30 days.

“Every community should have some sort of solar roof top program. Every community should have its own greenhouse operation. It’s really about getting out of the old CMHC INAC designed communities and really decolonizing our communities through (de-centralization),” said David Isaac, president of W Dusk Energy Group Inc.
