Lombard, IL (November 6, 2019) – The Council of Supply Chain Management Professional and the Journal of Business Logistics have announced Dr. Beth Davis-Sramek and Dr. Glenn Richey of Auburn University as the next editor team for the Journal of Business Logistics.

Dr. Beth Davis-Sramek is the Gayle Parks Forehand Professor in Supply Chain Management at Auburn University.  Her career in academia started with an adjunct instructor position at a small university, after spending several years in new product development and service operations in the insurance industry.  A passion for scholarship was ignited in her doctoral program when she saw the need for rigorous, industry-based research in the growing field of supply chain management. Since then, Beth’s research has been published in leading academic outlets such as the Journal of Business Logistics, Journal of Supply Chain Management, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, and the International Journal of Logistics Management.  Her commitment to scholarship extends to the discipline through her service as an associate editor for both the Journal of Business Logistics and Journal of Supply Chain Management. Her love of academia also extends into the classroom, where she applies a case-study approach to help students have a holistic understanding of supply chain challenges and opportunities in the global landscape. She emphasizes sustainable supply chain management, whereby firms benefit from decision-making that includes meeting economic, social and environmental goals.

Dr. Glenn Richey is the Harbert Eminent Scholar in Supply Chain Management and Research Director in the Center for Supply Chain Innovation at Auburn University. His role is to help advance supply chain management research and outreach in the Harbert College of Business at Auburn University.  Dr. Richey engages in industry-based research and enjoys building research and student relationships between academia and practice.  In addition to his formal education, Dr. Richey has an executive certificate in international business from the University of South Carolina. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Richey worked for 10 years in managerial positions across several functional areas including procurement, sales, retail consulting, finishing/manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics/supply chain operations for two companies: Scott Paper Co. and Genuine Parts Company’s S.P. Richards Division.

Logistics and supply chain issues are more important today than ever before. Logistics has achieved greater prominence within business with increased awareness of its operational, strategic, and financial impact on business success. The Journal of Business Logistics (JBL) published on behalf of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals provides a forum for the dissemination of original thoughts, research, and best practices within the logistics and supply chain arenas.
