“Our real reward comes from seeing Argos succeed in going from a

strategic idea to a supply chain design through implementation to

execution that transformed a declining business.”

- Jeff Metersky, Vice President of Solutions Strategy at LLamasoft

Presenting at the CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award Case Study Competition has always been an aspiration for LLamasoft.

This year, they knew they had the right partnership with Argos to make this happen.

The opportunity to build on an already strong relationship and a willingness to share led to the participation of the joint LLamasoft / Argos submission for the CSCMP Supply Chain Innovation Award.

The Partnership

A team from LLamasoft and Argos assembled and worked together to lead the submission.

Transformation leading to Innovation

We were thrilled to be one of six finalists that had the opportunity to present our case to the panel of judges at the 2017 Annual EDGE Conference held in Atlanta, GA.

Our submission was based on the amazing transformation of Argos from a declining brick and mortar catalogue company in the UK to the leading e-commerce retailer.  Argos is a £5.7bn UK retailer operating 840+ stores. The store network was transformed into an agile fulfilment model, with same day choice of delivery window or store pickup to 95% of UK households.  Argos leveraged Supply Chain Guru and LLamasoft professional services to design the network.

Industry recognition
“We are honored to have been recognized as runner up by CSCMP and SupplyChainBrain for our work helping Argos design their supply chain to transform into a market leading Omni-channel fulfilment offering.” said Jeff Metersky, Vice President of Solutions Strategy at LLamasoft.  “Our real reward comes from seeing Argos succeed in going from a strategic idea to a supply chain design through implementation to execution that transformed a declining business.”

Background

This year's runner up was Argos, comprised of team members from Argos and Llamasoft, for building innovative same-day delivery capabilities with a fundamental change from a traditional replenishment model to an agile fulfillment model.

Utilizing Lamasoft's optimization capabilities, Argos was able to re-imagine the role a store can have in the fulfillment process and provide a tight customer delivery window to 95% of UK households.

Early results are in and the growth of Internet sales are up 13% representing more than 50% of total sales.
