EDGE Conference Facility Tours

One of the most hands-on activities of CSCMP's annual supply chain conference is local facility tours. Facility tours offer an inside look at a local supply chain in action, and are typically led by company employees.

Check out a few of the facility tours we have lined up for EDGE 2017:

Atlanta Community Food Bank
Closing the Meals Gap through the Food Bank Supply Chain
Monday, 9/25, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

This tour will provide an overview of the Atlanta Community Food Bank Supply Chain Operations and Community Outreach activities, which provide more than 60 million meals to food insecure individuals in 29 counties across North Georgia. Tour areas will include the Community Kitchen, Product Rescue Center operations, and Warehousing operations, along with a brief presentation on their Distribution Network of food suppliers and donors, and over 680 community partnerships.

Tour Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how key supply chain functional skills enable food bank operations.
  • Gain an understanding of the importance of the food supply chain in reducing food insecurity.

  

Home Depot Direct Fulfillment Distribution Center
Monday, 9/25, 2:00 - 3:30 pm

Take a walk through the supply chain process of the Home Depot Direct Fulfillment Distribution Center. With over 1,100,000 square feet of space, it services 48 states directly to the customer. The facility enables faster order picking and shipping through new warehouse management and material handling systems. Get a firsthand look at the order processing and e-commerce operations.

Kroger Fully Automated Distribution Center
Tuesday, 9/26, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

This will cover WITRON’s technology at Kroger’s fully automated distribution center. Every step from receiving to shipping is automated, including storage, depalletizing, and palletizing of store orders. You will see the entire work process of this futuristic warehouse, get an insight into operations and how the technology supports not only the storage itself, but also improves transportation and unloading in stores.

Tour Learning Objectives:

  • Gain insight into the works and functionalities of a completely automated distribution center including automated picking and palletizing.
  • Learn about the most innovative grocery logistics automation solution technology and how it influences operations outside the warehouse as well.
